Marcos Bernardes, a longtime Connecticut resident and entrepreneur began his career training in evidence-based tree care and technical tree removal with Bartlet Tree Experts. He quickly became one of the few tree climbers working throughout the state on tree removals in locations where heavy machinery was unable to be implemented. He is the sole owner and operator of Litchfield Organic Landcare where he focused on soil biology, custom native landscape design, pruning and technical tree removals. He would later spend more time on the ground as a self-taught green carpenter working on requested projects for his clients who wanted to add structures to their native landscapes. This part of the job would become more of a passion, and he expanded his scope of woodworking through apprenticeships with multiple different experienced carpenters throughout the state in modalities from framing to formwork and later trim work. He found this to be his preferred discipline. This passion led him directly to the team at Heartwood Renovation and kept him on the ground ever since. When he isn’t working on Heartwood restorations, or spending time with his wife and husky Max, he can still be found climbing a tree or two, if only now for the view.
